 One of my camera cards was MIA for awhile, and I have since found it. YEAH!  I didn't realize I never put these on here, so here they are so I don't forget them in the book.

How to Make an Apple Pie Around the World part 2

We continued our apple pie week and had a lot of fun doing it. The kids took a lot of interest in the ingredients and the maps this time around. It was neat to see them excited about learning more. Logan even told us, during our conversation about wheat, that he was allergic. And they kept asking to go look at the map again to see where the ingredients came from. For our craft, we made paper apples. They turned out really cute, but the stems kept falling off. 

We played outside again and did some more racing and tag. For snack, we had popcorn and dried apples. Then we got our apples out and cut them open. We talked about what shapes the centers make. Trevor's had six points, not the normal five point star. Pretty crazy. The kids counted the seeds in their apples and talked about how they could plant them and grow an apple tree with them. We talked about how two halves make a whole. We talked about where apples come from and whether they are a fruit or a vegetable. Then the kids ate their apples. 

After that, we got our pie ingredients out and made pie! It was so fun. The kids had a great time helping. They each got to put in some of the ingredients and help stir it around. Then we filled their pie shells and rolled out the top pie shell. They put their top on and pinched the sides of the crust together. Logan sprinkled his graham cracker topping onto his pie. They all did a great job. We didn't have time to do centers because the pies took too long. We did get to do our phonics lesson though. We played with pants and pockets. The kids got letters and had to put the P's in the pockets of our pants, and leave the other letters out. 

It was a busy day for the Bees, but we had a lot of fun and they had so much fun making their pies. 

How to Make an Apple Pie Around the World

I was really excited to read this book and talk about it with the kids. I do have to say that music time is my favorite part of the day. The kids participate so well and it's so much fun. We read the story and all the kids could talk about was apple pie. For the activity, we went over to the maps and pointed out the different areas on the map that the ingredients came from in the book. 

As always, playing outside was a lot of fun.

For the math activity, we graphed apples. I bought red, yellow, and green apples and the kids put them on the graph to see which one we had the most of. The kids did a great job and it was a lot of fun.

For the craft, we made apple trees. I traced the kids arms and used them for the trunks and then glued the leaves on and had the kids finger paint apples on the trees. 

We had "please pass the P" for our phonics lesson. We got the drum out and patted the drum as we passed the P. The kids were so excited to have a turn with the drum, but none of them would sing with me :) 

 

It was a really fun day. Sorry for the lack of photos, that's all I got, but I am just proud that I took any at all!

Twas the Night Before Christmas

Dec. 17 and 19

  Another fun week with the Busy Bees! With the week before Christmas I was a little nervous the kids were going to be crazy but they were pretty good.
  On Tuesday we learned a little about words. Words we use during the winter. They had to organize them in groups- food, clothes and weather. The kids did really good.

When we finished they did a little coloring. Trevor enjoyed the coloring. 

He stayed in from play time to color more!

For math, we worked on numbers. I put a number on the star of the tree. The kids had to match the number with puff balls. All of them did a great job.

For the craft we made handprint Santas. I think the kids had fun putting them together.

On Thursday we sorted and made patterns with Nativity cut outs. 

Then we painted a star for the Christmas tree! They always like to paint.
